Great Auntie Beryl,
You was only given the title "Great Auntie" to me and my eldest brothers Rob and Nick, but I always saw you as so much more...I always wished you'd also been one of my other grandmothers. We shared so many amazing memories together. When I was 10/11 years old and myself, Nanny and Grandad Mick came over for the week to spend it with you and Great uncle Stan and your granddaughter Zoe. I remember setting up that little paddling pool in your back garden and me and Zoe constantly kept asking you to refill the pool because we'd splashed so much. And you'd just laugh and kept telling us "I've only just topped it up. You can wait now".
When you took us to Diggerland theme park and watched us on all the rides. When we went to Bath on Richard's canal boat and me and Zoe would stand on the top as we drove along the canal, before quickly ducking down when we came to a bridge laughing all the way. Taking us to western-super-mare beach and we got absolutely filthy because the sand was like thick mud and clay. When you kept telling me and Zoe we needed to be quiet and it was time to go to sleep because we'd be up ALL NIGHT messing about.
When you came over to me and the Children's father's first place together on West parade in Lincoln with Uncle stan, Nanny and Grandad Mick to come see us. And you asked what we were doing for the evening and you insisted on us coming out for a meal with you all, but I told you we didn't have any money and you just gave me that look and was like "oh don't be silly...it's our treat." And we had this amazing meal at Mill lodge where we talked and laughed and caught up for hours.
You got to meet both my beautiful children; your Great Great Nephew and niece, Áiden and Liara.
You always made the effort to do the 6 hour drive from Somerset to Lincoln at the time so you could be there for both their christenings.
When me, Áiden, baby Liara and their dad came to see you and Great Uncle stan when we was on our way to Cornwall in 2016 and you cooked us a fabulous dinner because you loved having people over and catering for them. You always made sure everyone was well fed! Never did I think this would be our last time of seeing each other in person.
And the one and most biggest things I'll remember about you Great Auntie Beryl, is your hugs. You'd squeeze us to the earth and back and tell us how much you would miss us and love us and how you didn't want us to go, so our goodbyes always took that little bit longer because we just kept hugging.
Great Auntie Beryl, you were the most loving, kind hearted, bubbliest person with the most beautiful heart and soul I ever knew.
In our hearts forever. You will be truly truly missed.
With love Abi, Áiden and Liara.
